H. JEFFREY BRAHIN presented a seminar at the PBI Real Estate institute entitled “Commercial Evictions and How to Avoid Them.” This seminar was a comprehensive overview of commercial evictions, including self-help, District Justice and Municipal Court actions, Common Pleas lawsuits (including ejectment actions) and Confessions of Judgment. The seminar covered procedural and substantive law considerations. Confessions of Judgment were discussed in detail, including the drafting and negotiating of the cognovit clause, as well as the filing and executing of the judgment, petitions to strike and open the judgment, and appeals. Practical strategies were reviewed regarding negotiations, notices, discovery, stays of execution, etc.

Mr. Brahin focuses his practice on complex commercial and real estate litigation, as well as real estate and corporate transactional work. Mr. Brahin represents a wide variety of companies and individuals in litigation matters including commercial landlord-tenant litigation, litigation regarding options, adverse possession, partition, foreclosures, mechanics liens, actions to quiet title, condominium litigation, rights of first refusal and the Commercial Real Estate Broker Lien Act. He also represents numerous entities in commercial litigation matters which include covenants not to compete, trade secret disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes, commercial debt collection and Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection law matters. Mr. Brahin has been named a Super Lawyer for the past six years. He is Co-Chair of the Bucks County Business Law Institute and served on the Bucks County ad hoc committee on preliminary injunction procedure. Mr. Brahin has been appointed as a special arbitrator in commercial litigation matters by the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas.
