Faust to Present on Special Education Law at Virtual Lehigh Symposium

New Britain, PA Partner Andrew E. Faust of Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP will tackle the complex issues faced by special education attorneys during the pandemic at this year’s Lehigh University Special Education Law Symposium, held via Zoom June 21-25, 2021. Faust will present “You Be the Judge: Dueling Attorneys, the Facts, and the Law” on Monday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.

A popular session among attendees, “You Be the Judge” showcases a fictitious situation based on common scenarios in special education. This year, it will address potential FAPE (free appropriate public education) violations for a remote learning student with Asperger’s, dyslexia and severe asthma in a family where English is the second language. Faust will be joined by another special education litigator and an administrative judge to review the case and offer guidance for the district and parents. Participants of the workshop will have a chance to weigh in as well.

Faust is a widely recognized authority in the areas of special education and student services. He has represented school districts and intermediate units at every level of the federal and state judicial and administrative systems, lectured widely to audiences of educators and attorneys, and testified as an expert witness in court proceedings and before state and federal agencies.
