May 1st is Law Day, a day to celebrate the rule of law in our society. Law Day 2017’s theme is the 14th Amendment and the Transformation of American Democracy. The 14th Amendment includes the Citizenship, Due Process, and Equal Protection clauses. Collectively, these three sections have repeatedly served as a framework to provide for the equality and liberty of all Americans. The Bucks County Young Lawyers’ Division runs our county’s competition with assistance from the legal community. Bucks County is the only county that staffs the competition year after year with actual sitting Judges and attorneys from our community, thus giving our students a realistic courtroom experience. Michael Mills & Joanne Murray, Partners in the Business law Practice Group of Antheil Maslow & MacMinn, LLP in Doylestown, were presenters on March 2, 2017 at the Bucks County Bar Association’s First Annual Business Law Institute.  Their session, entitled “The Perils of Equity-Based Compensation” considered the pros and cons of equity-based compensation schemes for closely-held businesses and alternative structures. Robert J. Hastings, Esq.   Robert J. Hastings, Esq., a resident of Danboro for over 50 years, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at the Doylestown Hospital. He was 81. Robert was the loving husband of Kay (Magill) Hastings. Born in Delaware, Robert was the son of the late John and Rushia Hastings. Robert was a graduate of Penn State University and obtained his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Robert practiced law in Doylestown for many years. Active in his community, Robert enjoyed being past president of the Central Bucks School Board, serving for over 13 years. He

 A fond remembrance of Coach Mike Pettine   I was in court this past Friday afternoon when a local attorney informed me of the passing of Mike Pettine Sr. So many thoughts quickly passed through my mind as I recalled the man who had such an impact on my life as well as many of those who played for him at Central Bucks West. He came to my installation ceremony and reception in early August 2016. He told me that day that he was very proud of my accomplishment becoming a judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Bucks
