Throughout the year, the Foundation holds several events in support of the Thomas E. Mellon, Jr. Scholarship and the William Penn Scholarship. These scholarships are awarded to Bucks County residents pursuing a career in law or a related field. Eligibility requirements include a record of academic excellence and a strong commitment to public service. May 1st is Law Day, a day to celebrate the rule of law in our society. Law Day 2017’s theme is the 14th Amendment and the Transformation of American Democracy. The 14th Amendment includes the Citizenship, Due Process, and Equal Protection clauses. The Bucks County Young Lawyers’ Division runs our county’s competition with assistance from the legal community. Bucks County is the only county that staffs the competition year after year with actual sitting Judges and attorneys from our community, thus giving our students a realistic courtroom experience.
