Wong Named Clerk of U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania

Philadelphia, PA – Mohung Wong is the new Clerk of Court for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The Clerk acts as the business manager for the bankruptcy court, overseeing all aspects of administration of the court’s operations. Wong was selected by the Board of Judges consisting of Chief Judge Ashely M. Chan, Judge Patricia M. Mayer and Judge Derek J. Baker, after a nationwide solicitation and a series of candidate
interviews.

A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering, Mr. Wong brings over 35 years of federal court administrative
and information technology experience. Born in Hong Kong, he arrived in the United States as an adolescent and became a naturalized citizen. Upon graduating college, Mr. Wong chose to give back to the country that received him by entering public service. He joined the federal court system and through hard work and quiet determination, he rose through the ranks based on merit. In doing so, he reinforced a truly American ideal that we live in a meritocracy where hard work, skill and the content of one’s character actually matter.

Commenting on the appointment, Chief Judge Ashely Chan said, “We are thrilled to have an experienced and thoughtful administrator at the helm. Mo’s background and temperament fit perfectly for what the court needs at a time of diminishing financial resources and a growing caseload.”
