Doylestown, PA – Partner Robert J. Salzer of Williams Family Law, P.C. played in a 24-hour hockey marathon over Labor Day Weekend that raised $500,000 for regional charities. It was the 10th year for the event, titled “Hockey Helps,” which is held annually on Long Island, NY, and continuously attracts an all-star lineup of participants.
Salzer played alongside NHL legend Stéphane Matteau, who scored one of the most significant goals in New York Rangers history during double overtime of game seven in the 1994 Eastern Conference Finals. Also in the game was Matteau’s son, Stefan, who currently plays for the top professional league in Germany. Other participating players included NHL retirees Adam Graves, Brian Mullen, Colton Orr, Mike Hartman, Boo Nieves, Kraig Nienhaus, and Benoit Hogue.
Hockey Helps provides support for individuals struggling with addiction or health issues. The organization also provides support for children and youth facing economic disadvantages, illness, or related hardships. Since its inception, the marathon has raised more than $5.5 million.
Salzer has played ice hockey much of his life: as a child, recreationally in college, in a hockey club while in law school and, most recently, in a men’s league.
A fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Salzer focuses on divorce, spousal support, child support, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and high-conflict child custody cases, especially those involving financially complex matters. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, The Catholic University School of Law (J.D.), and Boston University School of Law (LL.M., Taxation), Salzer is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
