Two Begley Carlin & Mandio Attorneys Named to 2017 PA Super Lawyers List

LANGHORNE, PA. August 7, 2017: Begley, Carlin & Mandio, LLP is pleased to announce that one of its Pennsylvania attorneys has been named to the 2017 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list and that one of its young lawyers has been named to the 2017 Pennsylvania Rising Stars list.

Super Lawyers, a Thomson Reuters business, is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The annual selections are made using a rigorous multi‐phased process that includes a statewide survey of lawyers, an independent research evaluation of candidates, and peer reviews by practice area. No more than five percent of attorneys are named to the Super Lawyers list. No more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for ten years or less.

Colin M. Jenei practices in the area of Criminal Defense, Personal Injury, Land Use, and Municipal Law. Practicing out of the firm’s New Hope Office, Mr. Jenei provides clients with representation in all areas of criminal defense including Driving Under the Influence, homicide by vehicle, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, felonies and drug crimes. He has been selected to the Pennsylvania Super Lawyers List since 2007 for the area of criminal defense. Mr. Jenei worked for Baldi, Cepparulo and Williams, and then as a partner in Baldi & Jenei before joining our firm. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Jenei worked for 15 years in the Buck’s County District Attorney’s office prosecuting serious felonies, homicide by vehicle cases, and first degree murders. Prior to leaving the DA’s office, Mr. Jenei was a Chief Deputy District Attorney and Chief of the Homicide by Vehicle Unit for more than 10 years. He has been recognized for his experience in vehicular crimes, including DUI. He is a member of the Bucks County Bar Association and the PA Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys. A 1977 graduate of Dickinson College, Mr. Jenei earned his law degree from Dickinson School of Law in 1982.

Steven M. Jones represents clients in civil and criminal litigation matters. Notably, Mr. Jones has significant experience in the area of litigation, handling serious and high profile cases including jury and bench trials. Mr. Jones has successfully represented individuals, businesses and government entities in a wide variety of litigation matters. Mr. Jones tailors his practice to provide a client-focused approach, designed to carefully consider each client’s unique circumstances when preparing and executing a collaborative game-plan. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jones was a member of the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, rising to the rank of Deputy District Attorney and handling cases ranging from financial fraud and white-collar investigations, to crimes against older adults, serious assault, DUI, drugs, homicide and Investigative Grand Jury proceedings. While in that post, Mr. Jones held many roles including Chief of Special Investigations. Additionally, Mr. Jones was a member of the Special Victims Unit (SVU) where he worked with child and adult victims of sexually violent crimes, and headed the Elder Abuse Division of the SVU. As a member of the Bucks County Crimes Against Older Adults Task Force, Mr. Jones worked with law enforcement and other professionals at the county, state and federal levels to help train individuals and coordinate a collaborative approach in recognizing and preventing the abuse of older adults. He has been a regular speaker at the Annual William J. Neff Symposium on the Prevention of Crimes Against Older Adults – lecturing before hundreds of nurses, social workers, administrators, police officers, counselors, lawyers and other professionals involved in insuring the well-being of older adults. Mr. Jones’ extensive experience in the District Attorney’s Office allows him to offer his clients a particularly unique perspective in a wide range of criminal defense matters.

In addition, Mr. Jones was also the head of the Expungement Unit within the District Attorney’s Office for several years during his tenure in that office, reviewing and analyzing all of the expungement matters in Bucks County, as well as formulating specific office procedures. Mr. Jones has translated that experience to a robust expungement practice, allowing him to assist clients seeking expungement to successfully navigate the expungement process throughout the state. A member of the Pennsylvania and Bucks County Bar Associations, as well as the Bucks County Chapter of the American Inn of Courts, he is a cum laude graduate of both West Chester University (B.S. Accounting 2004) and Widener University School of Law (J.D. 2007). In 2016 and 2017, Mr. Jones was selected to the Pennsylvania Rising Stars list. Each year, no more than 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state are selected by the research team at Super Lawyers to receive this honor.
