Receives Award for Distinguished Community Service
Yardley, PA March 14, 2018 — Attorney Michael J. Shavel has been awarded the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award upon nomination by the Washington Crossing Council, Boy Scouts of America. This award is granted to Eagle Scouts who have inspired others through their actions and have devoted a lifetime to their profession, avocation, community, and beliefs, at great sacrifice to themselves and their families.
Mr. Shavel has distinguished himself through his continued service to his community and the Boy Scouts of America. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout in 1978, he continues to be deeply involved in the Scouting programs and currently holds the position of Council Executive Board President at Washington Crossing Council, Boy Scouts of America.
“It is a great honor to be recognized with this award among such a distinguished group of leaders who have earned the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award,” said Shavel. “I am forever grateful for the experiences that Scouting has afforded me.”
The Outstanding Eagle Scout Award was implemented in 2010 as part of the Boy Scouts of America 100th Anniversary. The National Eagle Scout Award has gained prominent standing among Scouting recognitions. Previous recipients include famous authors, explorers, television personalities, military flag officers, scientists, government officials, and prominent businessmen. The members of the selection committee are all Eagle Scouts. Each of the recipients have risen locally to a state of prominence and distinction in his field, and in Scouting.
